Elvis Presley

Presley, an American born singer, and actor risked his reputation by starting punk rock, a revolting kind of genre that aimed at changing everything, musically, sexually and politically. Referred by many as “King” Presley managed to get into 4 Official Music Halls of Fame, outselling every other entertainer and being on par with The Beatles. Elvis often performed in sold-out arenas and having sold over a billion records (and still counting), he’s viewed by many as the reason many artists such as The Beatles, Michael Jackson among others joined the music business. Also accredited for the launch of rock and roll, Elvis passed away aged 42 in 1977.

Michael Jackson

Born in August 1958, in Gary Indiana, Michael Jackson is the undisputed King of Pop. Michael was a singer, dancer, and songwriter and boasts the distinction of the best-selling album of all time, grossing 30 times platinum as of 2016 and the first to hit 33 times platinum. Michael, the first black artist to have his song aired on MTV, broke a major racial hurdle in the music industry. Michael’s other albums; Bad, Dangerous and History are also among the best-selling albums of all time and reached the top spot in the US charts. Renowned for his trademark dance moves; the moonwalk, lean, Thriller dance, and sidewalk plus his unique clothing, Michael thrilled fans all around the world, and it’s no surprise that the Guinness Book of Records recognizes him as one of the bestselling solo performers of all time.

The Beatles

The Beatles were a rock band from Liverpool formed in 1960 and the word best to describe this group is epic. Comprising of four members; John Lennon, Paul McCartney who were brilliant songwriters, George Harrison played the guitar and Ringo Starr played the drums rose to great heights that led to John claiming the quartet was more famous than Jesus! As they grew older, their music shifted from telling love stories to adult stories. The Beatles work from 1965 onwards is still regarded as their best works, with albums such as Rubber Soul (1965), revolver (1966) and The Beatles (1968). Considered the best-selling music artists in the U.S, with over 178 million copies sold, according to the RIAA, the group had to make it to this list.


Madonna often acknowledged as the Queen of Pop is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and entrepreneur. She boats thirteen studio albums, four compilation albums, three soundtrack albums and two remix albums proving her genius in the music business. According to the Guinness World Records, Madonna holds the accolade of the female with the most records, totalling over twenty.

Bob Marley

Marley stands out from the rest of the musicians on the list because; he brought with him the message of world peace through his music. It was through him that reggae music got introduced to the rest of the world.

Born in Jamaica, Bob came from a society of poverty and discrimination, but that didn’t stop him from spreading the message of hope. It’s no surprise that Bob Marley’s merchandise is marketable around the world.
